Phenyx Pro PTU-X wireless mic TX/RX for your non-wireless mic

Trying out one of these today at rehearsal. Lady singer wants to move about. These suppy phantom so she can use her Audix Vx-5 hand held condenser. I predict feed back galore on the first gig as she is proudly completely non- technical. It'll be a while before I'll use my IEM's... or come without hearing protection :-)

The reflexive 2.4 GHz putdowns around here are unfortunate. I get that it's just the nature of forum-think and at the end of the day, it doesn't harm me personally, but they often seem dated at this point and tend to ignore efforts a number of companies have put toward improving frequency-hopping and coexistence in that band with real successes.

I’ve got five pairs of Donner CV-2 2.4 GHz XLR adapters that are coming up on a year of regular use without a single dropout or interference issue. Two of the sound guys we work with ended up buying them after seeing them in use, and one actually texted me recently to say thanks and tell me they basically saved a 3-day conference gig...I was as surprised as he was because I've never pushed it, but he got in a jam and thought he was going to have to do some cable runs, but he got almost 12 hours out of a charge on them (the spec says 8).

NUX is another good example of a company leaning into smarter adaptive hopping rather than abandoning 2.4 GHz. Again, for my own experience, the B7 Pro and B8 IEM and guitar systems have been just as solid (a few months less), zero dropouts, zero interference...they aren't perfect, but whatever issues might be taken with them, signal stability isn't one. I say it's unfortunate because people are rejecting gear out of hand that could meet their needs and serve them well based on what it, at minimum, incomplete information.

In fact, just the other day I was using a 5.8GHz system at a show for the first song, and noticed that it kept dropping out. I ended up having to swap over to a wired setup to get through the rest of the show. Just because you haven't had any bad experiences with them, doesn't mean that's not a thing. Even over at r/livesound, people will say they have no issues with them and others slam them because they've had a bunch of problems.

If it works for you, awesome! Great! If it doesn't, find something else.

Here's the problem: today's crowd is absolutely full of cell phones looking to connect to everything they can, including Bluetooth devices. Can it cause problems? You bet your @$$ it can.

I don't know if any of the Phenyx ones are Bluetooth, but generally Bluetooth for live audio is a no-go. There's too much latency for it to be usable.

Mine 100% is, because there's no wifi on the board.

But I learned a thing today: Phenyx offers a whole lot more than my (old?) board / mic pair. I don't see a bluetooth mic listed, so I guess that's a discontinued product.

Right, you're using that to play music off your phone/ipad, not using your mic or instruments to play live with. There's a huge difference.

I've setup a BT receiver in my rack for our X32 for break music or pre-show music, but you couldn't use it to play with your bass/guitar or sing with. If anything, BT is probably worse than 2.4/5.8 in a bar/venue setting, and usually has a shorter range.

I'm not sure what you are getting at, I have a Phenyx branded Bluetooth mic. I doubt that I would ever use it to sing and I haven't tried it in that way, but I sure can make announcements with it. I bought the whole thing used for next to nothing, or I wouldn't have the mic at all.
