I finally paired together a couple of things Ive had for a while a Phil Jones Bass Buddy and an Acoustic Image Contra EX extension cab (4ohm, 200w). The result is a cracker of a little practise amp! Ive been very surprised by how well the 10w power amp inside the BB drives the cab a really nice level for at home practise or jamming with a couple of acoustic guitars. The tone is great, as youd expect from two pretty colourless devices.
I bent back the front panel of the "lid" section of the EX to make a space for the BB, and I'll probably look at some kind of velcro set-up to make it a bit more solid (or maybe a couple of wedges of foam on either side). I also need to get a 1/4" to speakon cable that's about 6" long to get rid of the excess cable flowing out the back.
Just thought Id share it if only because Im so happy with the result.
