Phil Jones

Nice. Did you just get it on a whim, or have you heard it before? I'm really not to familiar with Phil Jones stuff in general. How is the stuff?

Until SMASH chimes in, I'll mention that he definitely did not get it on a whim! He owns an M-500 head, Bass Budy, and Briefcase if I remember correctly. He is one of the TBers I consider "hype-proof" so if he likes it, that says something.

I own the 6T and 9B cabinets, and previously owned an M500 as well. Loved the sound, but wanted a tad more power (want, don't really need). For that reason, I'm considering going the preamp route as well (or getting another M500, or doing something else budget permitting). PJB stuff is very very high quality. The clarity is incredible.

Phil Jones Bass and Ritter is an excellent combination! :)

Let me know if you have specific questions.

If the Bass Buddy is any indicator, the P-1 will be excellent.

The Bass Buddy has become one of my favorite preamps-- very high build quality; great, warm tone; nice and very usable onboard optical compressor; powerful 5 band eq; audiophile quality headphone amp; and a low power amp (10 watt) that can drive a cab for practice use! All in a very small, light package.

A lot bang for the buck IMO.

Looking forward to hearing how you like the P-1.

Peace,

Matt

I own a Briefcase, 6T, and 9B, and I have played the Suitcase and 4B. I gotta tell you, I can't wait for the P-1 to ship! I have been asking Phil about the availability of that preamp for some time. I have a great deal of respect for Phil Jones and his crew, and I expect the P-1 to be fine product.

Ok I'm getting excited now. Smash, I play rock mostly. How would this be as a rock preamp?

I am a rocker, and I like a clean, full-range dynamic sound. I would anticiapate the P-1 deliver the goods quite well in this regard.

I'm not SMASH, but I play him on TB. ;)

as a recent PJB convert I've gotta say that the Suitcase is the thing that's got me. As well, the pre section on the SixPak(M500) is wild and as funds come in I'm hoping to rival SMASH WITH A PJB COLLECTION :smug:
As to the P-1........ a little birdie told me that 31 of the 40 first production run P-1s are sold AND that a certain someone is paying full price for his, his name might also rhyme with Wictor Vooten......
Can't wait to eventually give a P-1 a try though, the thing looks amazing and if; as said ad nauseum already, the other products in the PJB line are any indicator, the P-1 could be ready to reeeeally put PJB on the map.

So I took the plunge today. I called up bass central and ordered the P-1. :hyper: 18 of the 20 were already on hold, so I got #19!!! Looking forward to it. I should be getting it in about 6 weeks. Not badly priced at all too.

Sending you a PM regarding this. Edit: And, a happy followup. :D
