He received his first all Alembic bass in 1974. He played it from June 16, 1974 until July 1, 1979. Prior to (and during this time), he played the Alembic modified Starfire, starting in 1971, maybe in the fall. Before that was the modified SG and before that was the Starfire with a few mods.

I'm not doubting you. But may I ask how you (or anyone for that matter, including Phil himself) would know the exact dates he played a particular bass?
