Phil Lesh's New Ritter Bass

I've been listening to Phil for decades and I love his style, even the noodling, but I'm sorry, to my eyes that is the ugliest bass I have seen in a very long time, maybe ever. It looks like something from a very bad acid trip. DSFDF and YMMV of course.

ive got an originals project ongoing to produce materialfor the future duke2004 cover band :)
seriously, with all due respect to Mr Lesh's abilities to come up with complex interweaving modally semi dissonant lines (or however you wish to describe Lesh's unique approach), I would refine what i said earlier in that Phil has continued to be a unique and glorius musician in spite of his 6 string basses, but I do not think the extra strings have added anything except the temptation to play more fluid scaler lines (ie more notes) IMHO, but then again what do i know..

Nothing beats The Godfather in my opinion. I guess Phil just couldn't remember all the controls anymore :p

Here's a pic from a recent Phil and Friends show that a friend sent me.

Sorry I had to reduce the quality and size to upload it here. If anyone wants the full-size original -- which weighs in at just under 3 Mb -- pm me and I can try to email it to you.
