Its looking great so far, I'm going to try and watch its progress. If it plays anything like the 6 it will be absolutely amazing. Your 6 is the only 6 I have ever felt comfortable playing on and it was definitely one of the best basses I've tried.

Now that the 9-string is finally gone to its owner I can finally start working on this one again. It's been more than a year since I stopped working on it.
I spent a good amount of time working on the carving of the body and neck today. It's not finished yet but gives a good idea of what the final look will be like. I really like the look of this bass. That one is going to be hot

Phil, how did you mate the top wood to the body, with your hidden neck joint? Got any pictures of how you placed the neck then covered the neck blank with the body top?

Phil, I must say that I love your work. I have always loved that 6 string fretless, then the 9 string looked awesome, and this one is looking great so far too! The body shape is beautiful and the woods used make the projects even better. Keep up the great work!
I like how function is the absolute priority on this bass. Yeah, extreme creations are awesome, but this is one elegant, eye-catching workhorse. Whoever gets this one is gonna play it til it can't make another note! Very inspiring, very comfy looking, and definitely gonna be a MAD tone machine. Please post some sound clips once it's up and running!
And does this guy have a designated driver yet? Or just building it to sell to the first bidder?

I don't think I've got any pictures of it. I basically routed the body to inset the neck into it and glued it in. I then cut out the shape of the botton of the neck into the top cap and squeezed the cap onto the body and clamped it.
No designated driver yet, we'll see what the future brings
I'll definitely post some audio once its done.

This is a great looking bass. I really like the combination of woods and the body shape. Mighty fine work!
Hey Phil, I remember this one. It's coming along really nicely. The neck joint looks really good. I'll definitely be checking this out. Rob sent me an email not too long ago telling me he paid you a visit and noticed you were working up some 'serious building chops' in his words. I can't agree more!

We spent an afternoon in my workshop (read: garage) talking lutherie. It was a great time and great exchange of information. We both left that day with a bit more information to help us grow in this craft
Cool man. I think once you get really serious about this (i.e; turning into a business), you will definitely be onto something. There aint too many dudes building these sorts of basses in QLD, or Australia even! I wish you all the luck!

Give it time! I think you oughta get a proper website happening though, and a myspace. Then advertise in Rave or something or Timeoff

Yeah I know, I've been thinking of that pro site for a year now. I never seem to have the time to start writing one up. I definitely need one. Will have to do something about that very soon.
Very nice! I really like that you carved the whole body... It wouldn't have looked as nice with just a 1/2 inch round-over around the edges. Great Job!
