Well bassboy, let me explain. The rear route is for the controls
not the pickups. I've never liked the look of the plate and
knobs. I recently saw a Celinder, a Nordy, and a Cappolo 5,
all with pickguard and no control plate. I like the look. Also,
having the rear route takes away a little weight.

I'm about to order a bass but I've had no clue what color to
get. I wanted to see what this combo would look like, and
Mr Nice Guy here, (thndrstk6) was nice enough to do this up
for me. It's the only Rosewood board bass I've seen like this.
I think it looks great although I open to ideas.
But certainly dots, not blocks. Again, great job. Thanks.

I will ignore your condescending tone and simply state that yes, I understand the concept. I mean I don't get the appeal. I have seen actual basses made that way before. There's one in the classifieds right now.

I think it looks unfinished or incomplete. There's a notch in the PG for a plate that doesn't exist. I feel the same way about a j bass with a plate and no guard. Even if there was never one there, my brain sees it there and then wonders why it is missing.

That said, I wish you all the best in acquiring an instrument that looks, feels, sounds and plays exactly the way YOU want it to. All the while, I will freely exercise my right to disagree with your preferences.

Please, please do not take my overly dry sense of humor for
condescension! It couldn't be farther from my intention. You
should hear what I call the kids. Just my bad communication.

I now understand "you don't get it" means its not your favorite
look. I get it. I don't like the look of just the plate and knobs
either, but I didn't want another Fender'y Sunburst Jazz bass.
The Celinder and Nordy had a slightly different shape to the
pickguard. No " V " where the knobs start.

I have a few.

This in 3T sunburst, chrome hardware, and fretless. Badass II and natural headstock.

A Precision. Purple/red sparkle, j in the precision spot, p in the bridge pos, kahler tremolo. Fretless, chrome pg.

And my last one is a boner pbass in tobacco burst with the roscoe beck pup in the bridge pos. Black pg, badass II. Maple fb


I have Gimp but am still figuring it out, so I might be doing mockups in a bit.

No problem, I use GIMP (www.gimp.org) on my Ubuntu Linux desktop (two Linux users in one thread, to me that's shocking :D). I also make HEAVY use of the in-stock items at Warmoth :D plus what ever I could get from google image search.
