Weather Report with Jaco or Alphonso?
Listen to Scuttle Buttin' and tell me how much Hendrix you hear in that. . . or anyone for that matter. Super heavy strings massively strong fingers and a ridiculous touch made for a sound unlike anyone. His merging of influences into his own thing is the very definition of innovation. I know I wont convince you but the cat was a force unto himself. He massively respected those that came before ( and they respected him just as much ) but he didn't just stand on their shoulders, he took a dead form of music and put it back in the public conscience in the era of hair metal and synth bands. No mean feat.
