Greetings everyone, this is my first post. I am a bassist attempting to improve what is by far my weakest skill - picking. I've always dismissed picking in the past because its alot of work to learn from scratch, especialy if all you've ever practiced is classic fingering. But fingering doesnt cut it for certain songs i would like to play - its not the sound i want.
I realize the importance of constant practice and i apply what i know. My main problem is that my pick will actualy shift while i play. I dont know what im doing wrong but ive tried many different picks of many different caliburs and i just cant keep it still. I'm holding my pick the 'right way' with it resting on my index finger and then i clamp down with my thumb and i dont leave very much pick sticking out between my fingers and the strings. i suspect that my fingers collect moisture over extended periods of playing making the pick a little.... slippery... as idiotic as that may sound.
If anybody out there can point me towards the right direction it would be much appreciated. many thanks in advance.
