Double Bass Pick Up the World pickup

Does anyone have any direct experience with this pickup for bass?

Some of the threads are kind of old. Turns out I know one of the posters, jcbassomatic. I think he is using a Realist or a Full Circle nowadays. He (or any of the other folks who are still on TB) would probably respond to a PM or email if you are still interested and want more current info.

dont waste your money. i had one. sounded terrible, lots of feedback which was very difficult to control, and the thing was very micophonic in that it picked up every little noise on the bass. the wire of the pickup was like a pickup too, so it had better not be touching anything, because if it vibrated against something when you played a note that would be amplified too

I actually liked the sound of the PUTW pickup. However, I found it to be the most fragile pickup I've ever owned. The maker was very good about replacing the defective/broken pickups, but after going thru three of them in about 3 months, I moved on to a Full Circle mixed with an AMT mic. I think I liked the sound from the PUTW better than the Full Circle, but the FC is far more durable.
