Apparently, the first post you read in this thread was #154.Carlos Benavent. I'm surprised he hasn't been cited after 8 pages...

Easy! This thread is about pick players, not fingers.
Why make it a contest? Don’t you like music?OK, Billy Sheehan is disqualified. But can a pick virtuoso keep up with a proficient alternating four finger player for speed? It would be an interesting contest.

Yep, music is not (shouldn't be, anyway) a competition sport. Why make it a contest? Don’t you like music?
Just thought it would be fun to see how fast can a human can possibly pick or pluck a bass. That doesn't make me a music hater. Why make it a contest? Don’t you like music?
I'm in agreement that music should be about the music. But, there's nothing wrong with a couple of musicians having a friendly (or not) competition of some sort.Yep, music is not (shouldn't be, anyway) a competition sport.

Worst, I used the thread search tool!Apparently, the first post you read in this thread was #154.![]()
Yeah, the search function around here is not all that good, but not really any worse than that of a lot of other forums search functions. Why can't web designers/IT folks figure it out?Worst, I used the thread search tool!
With Carlos Benavent instead of Carles Benavent, that's whyWorst, I used the thread search tool!
True but at least it could have picked Benavent. Well I've been caught red handed. So here's the truth : I went on to read the 2-3 pages to check, then got bored with all the bassist quoted in the replies (not nice I know) and thought "I hope Benavent has been quoted" then used the search thread function, relying on technology to hide my wrongdoing...With Carlos Benavent instead of Carles Benavent, that's why![]()

Tom Scholz is seemingly a virtuoso at nearly everything.I don't know that I'd call him a virtuoso, but he's definitely very good at playing bass. Tom Scholz.

It seems to me the most admired bsssists, tecnique wise, are finger pickers. Just wondering if any pick players would make it into that category according to you...
