Yes, but the chauffeur appeared pretty confident in ignoring that limit.
He might have had special permission and military number plates.
In Europe, when you're a chauffeur of important person, you can neglect the law . BTW. in France and Italy before the cameras and non-stop radars you could see many fast drivers on highways .

Interesting lines but the rims are almost crying out for yellow spokes and green center-caps.

Wow! Two consecutive cars I've owned!
I had the GTI right after a Honda Civic Hatchback (the 2nd gen tiny one) which was actually quicker. But the GTI had serious torque. There was a big long hill on the way to pick up my daughter (divorce) and the GTI rocked that hill like nothing.
The Beetle Convertible - fun fun fun. Owned that (a'68 IIRC) in the early '90's. It was a serious death trap. It was kinda held together with duct tape. But we figured we'd go out having fun.
