Although I'll also have a hard time reducing the flock to just 3 - it kills me to have put the Fenders on the market, but as long as they don't sell, I guess I have nothing to cry about

I would have to go with a Modulus Q5, a Dingwall ABII and a 1981 Hondo 1115 Longhorn... It would be hard to do..

This is really quite a tough call, to get all the tones in only 3 basses. After a lot of thought I think I'd have to go with this setup though:

Alder/Rosewood Nordy vJ5 for traditional jazz sounds/look. Picked Alder/Rosewood because I'd want ash/maple for bass #2...

Ash/Maple with exotic top Nordstrand NX5. This one would have a P pickup in the traditional location, and a MM pickup in the traditional location assuming both of those would fit. As soon as I thought of it I realized I've never seen a bass in this config, could be cool!

Last but not least would have to be a Rob Allen MB-2 5 string so you could half-way cover fretless and upright tones. Maybe it could have a magnetic pickup or two in addition to the in bridge pickup?

I would have to go with 3 old 5 String Wal Basses (Probably Mach 3's) one tuned standard, one tuned flat and the third tuned ADADG

then I would be able to say, Bass and Bassist made in High Wycombe, UK!
