Pickguard Replacing

I'm getting a new guard soon, and this will be my first time switching one out, plus I'm not yet too keen on my bass' guts. I took off my guard previously and noticed it had a foil on the back. I assume this is to shield any interference from the strings/pickups.
Could I reuse this or should I go and buy new...... whatever its called.

You can buy new. I wouldn't try and pull it off of the old one, it would probably tear. It's just foil tape and you should be able to find it at most hardware stores.

The foil doesn't need to cover theentire underneath of the PG. It just covers the control area.
