Picking a band name sucks

If you go twice in one day is that an amendment to the construction?
I was in a female-fronted blues band in 2012 and we agonized about names for months. Finally came up with "Thrift Shop Radio" - like some kind of magical radio you found at a thrift shop that played cool old songs. Well - that was right about when Macklemore and Ryan Lewis came out with their song "Thrift Shop" 
So people thought we were some kind of novelty rap act or something.
Current dance cover band has a female lead singer who is a red head - hence "Red Delicious". Not a super inventive name but we aren't trying to change the world here
We keep saying we need to get a sponsorship from Redd's Apple Ale
I like "Mug Shot Monday" - to me it reminds me of a weekend of partying that went slightly wrong - in a comical "The Hangover" kind of way. OK for a party band that plays mostly clubs, might turn off the wedding and event customers though. "The Switch" isn't bad. Not a fan of 'Long Hand". Also "Rock Bottom" reminds of the cheesiest of classic rock cover bands.

Coming up with band names is the worst. Lucked out this last round, and I'm thankful that it only took a couple of weeks. Mug Shot Monday is pretty cool.

I've never worried about a band name - as long as it isn't offensive, who cares? Pick a name, I'm good with it. I've never heard someone say the were going to see a band (or not see one) because of a name.
An apprentice of mine once had a band called "Free Beer and Strippers" It looked great on the posters. 
It's kinda long, but how about the "PICKING A BAND NAME SUCKS" band?
I like "Mug Shot Monday" over 'Mary'... Out of your list, the only other one is "Argyle Gargoyle"... Maybe "The Nibblers", but that sounds kinda common.
One thing I've noticed is that there are a set of themes that practically every cover band in our area uses - just about anything that's a bar, gambling, or biker reference. Last Call, Shotz, Lucky Seven, Straight Up, On the Rocks, Jack of Hearts, Road Kings... a gazillion bands with names like that. I wanted something a little different.
Very true. I'm not insisting that there's NO band in the world out there with the name. Just none nearby or national, and not too MANY with the name. There are a couple other bands out there called Long Hand or similar, but only a couple, far away, and not very active from what I can tell. The problem with "The Switch" was that we got a LOT of google hits for "The Switch Band," none local but enough to make me worry about people trying to search for us.

Ha ha there's actually a pretty active band out there called Cursive already. The original notion to the Longhand name was actually anatomy - me and the guitarist both have long spidery fingers.

I'm working on a C.D if that's what you call collection of songs nowadays with a fewer other studio guys and its going to be ready before we have a name. I don't know maybe we should just call it , those guys !!! I feel your pain.
You may have to overrule the drummer. Mug Shot Monday sounds good. (How about Free Shot Friday? That should really pack the house...)

I just saw the name of your band it was a word on the home page here in one of the treads POWERAMP that's the of a cover band.
Band names I say leave me out of it just make sure it doesn't have anything offensive, vulgar or the word blue or the word boy in it
