Picking cabinets for a Mesa WD 800

A lot of great thoughts and alt rigs and ideas. Looks like I'll start with the 115 and consider adding a 12 or a 10 or another 15 from there. Without a stack to start may need to elevate this. Lots of support and experience with this amp on this site makes me very comfortable about the investment. Already had great luck with product support locally here for other guitar amp

I’m curious, are you currently lugging a 6x10 combo up two flights of stairs on a regular basis? That’s... dedication.
No it's been a practice Room amp in 2 different houses. Stairs in both houses to move it back-and-forth. But potential gigs coming up have prompted this as well as a very long relationship with this amp

Its not my favorite.
In fact, none of them are my favorite, as a stand alone.
But the 210 over the 115 is glorious.
I knew eden made a 610. I did not know they made a 610 combo.
Maybe I misunderstood you...
Turns out someone must have taken out 2 10 inch speakers out of my cab! Chef you know your Eden and you know mine better than me....Dooooh!

It’s really a beautiful amp. Bought it over 20 years ago I believe. Only slight problem with the on off switch easily repaired with lots of satisfaction. But It is Time for a change to look for a new sound. Recently adding a keeley compressor pro was a revelation added to the Eden.

I'm glad you mentioned that. I am looking at compressors and had decided on an API Tranzformer Lx which is a little pricey. I'll check out the Keeley, time to tighten things up a bit.

Best head i've ever had.. i don't think you can go wrong with ANY decent cab.or cabs . I run it through 2 ampeg 210's on 2 ohm and it sounds great. I also run it through a stack of rumble 500 4x10' s .. very nice. .. and those are pretty low cost cabs..

Well the amp wd 800 and 1 x 15 subway have arrived.

Sounds good mmmmmhhh
Serial number for the cab is 2112
Must be a sign. So I ordered a 1 x12 which should be here Friday. Or should I be buying a Geddy Lee Bass? Probably don't need the other cab,

but the comments about this 1 x 15 + 1x 12 combo were so good, I couldn't resist.

Thanks for the help!

Well I now have a 1x12 and a 1x15 subway cabs with the WD 800 head. I'm wondering if there any strong opinions about stacking these or separating them out in different parts of the room?
When I use my Keeley compressor pro it really made my old Eden Rig sound a lot better but I almost feel like this amp sounds better without any compression!

Stack. More phase coherence, and clearer idea how everything sounds.
You get a little bump in loudness, too, when they are stacked.

I recently purchased a WD 800 and I couldn't be more happy about it. I am now on the market to buy a cabinet to pair it with, and I am looking for a single-cabinet solution. With that in mind, should I only look at 4 ohm cabinets to fully exploit the power of the amp? If I were to use a 8 ohm cabinet instead, for instance, the power output of the amp would be 400W instead of the full 800W, and I know the difference will not be that much volume-wise, but will mostly be in headroom. But still, I would like to use the full 800W.
Am I wrong with these assumptions and/or is this just a silly caprice?
I cannot afford Subway cabinets, as here in Europe they are incredibly expensive.
I am asking this as I have an opportunity for a sweet local deal for a used but pristine EICH 410 (8 ohms), but I have concerns as stated above. Otherwise I am considering options like the new Darkglass DG212N, or some Barefaced products as the TWO10s or the Super Twin (even if the latest is a bit more expensive than my planned budget, ~1k€).
Thanks in advance for your insights!

Curious as to the price of a Subway 2x15 cab in your country. Here in the US it's $1599 and you cant negotiate the price.

Some more follow up: I went with a Mesa 1x12 and 1x15. Couldn't be happier. I dont have experience with those other cabs. These sound great stacked, recording with DI was impressive. Too bad about the prices over there.
