I see no issue with having an 810 in your living room.

If it's not speaker distortion it's the tweeter reproducing extraneous amp noise. Here it is.
The Ampeg 212 sounds good but really not that loud. I tried combining the 2 cabinets and the GK sounds awful. Each one sounded decent alone, but no bueno together. Not sure now if I am going to return it and get an 810 or not. The GK has some sort of static sound on low open strings, not sure what it is, sounds like static not blown speaker distortion....weird.
Next question. How loud should an SVT be at about 10:30 on the volume with just the one 212?
Thanks everyone the help

I don't know about knob position but either cab should be rattling your fillings in your lounge.
I think your amp might need a checkup.
I'm assuming you wear goggles and a lab coat when you set all of that up? Looks complicated, and impressive as hell. I've got no room for a fridge but every time I see one, I want to run right out . . . . . and buy one.I've never been one for subtlety.
Svt CL pushing the 810, split signal to the 410 hlf, sans amp RBI pre growling with a GK MB pushing the signal. Almost like a biamp system, where the 810 carried the body of the sound and the HLf had some crazy deep full lows filling it out. I could roll the lows in to taste. Be jealous.
I didn't use this very often and only for outdoor gigs on bigger stages, but man was it a great sound.

I have never seen a fridge for $400 unless it looks like it went through a government shredder. There is a showroom condition "Classic" on the floor at the local for $799.00, but I'm holding out for a "Heritage" and would most likely throw my money at it if it jumped out at me like the local Classic.I have an SVT-vr on top of an 8x10 in my small rehursal space/guest room. It is the best sounding amp I’ve ever owned and I drag it out in public every chance I get.
The volume knob doesn’t make any sound come out until 9:00ish. It can be played at bedroom volume but the volume change from nothing to loud enough to compete with a drummer is pretty touchy.
At 9:30 on the volume when I hit an A note it makes the acoustic guitar hanging on the wall across the room answer back with its own ringing open A string, almost as loud as if it was plucked.
I have played louder rigs. I have played rigs with deeper bass. I have NEVER played any rig that was as articulate and musical as my VR/fridge.
You can get an 8x10 thats a little worn for $400 if you look around. Do it and don’t look back!
To me the 810 is a weird animal. As a standalone cab it's almost good. But when you hit the stage something magic happens. I've also noticed you need to crank some gain and EQ into it to make sound even better.
But I've always used ported cabs with tweeters. Which are totally different from the famous 810.
I've also owned the 610HLF. THAT cab is to me one of the best I've ever owned and tried. Ampeg must make a NEO version of it, and it would be for me one of the best cabs ever!
