I have been searching for a pickup for my DB. I decided on the K&K Bass Max. I was wondering though - On Ebay there is someone selling 'The ORIGINAL SIX ROUNDS DOUBLE BASS PICKUP'. Does anybody know anything about these pickups? I can't seem to find any information except what is on Ebay. I don't know manufacture, can't find a website, nothing. It seems like it is a real good deal if it works the way the seller claims. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

+1 on the Revolution SOLO pickup from Upton Bass.
The e-bay pickup looks very questionable to me. I particularly don't like the way the jack is designed to be attached to a string afterlength with cable ties. I'd pass on that thing.

Looks like a pair of piezo benders and a piece of cork, dipped in PVC. You could make one for $5-10, but for $30 it might work well enough; the Bass Max is not dissimilar in construction.

The first one is David Fittell's from "How to make a Piezo Pickup" on Talkbass and the second is the one on ebay. I don't think the eBay unit is ToneRanger's design; it looks more like it's made from two circular brass-based benders rather than the MSI piezo film.
Personally, I've never had a pickup that wasn't a "name brand" for a couple of reasons. One when you deal with Fishman, David Gage, or Upton they have limited or limited lifetime warranties on their product.
If the unit is deffective or develops a problem you can get it repaired or replaced. Two, their has been some testing and evaluation of their product before it was released to the mass market.
It's obviously cheaper to buy the ebay pickup, but it may not
be in the long run. If I were going to go that route I'd follow ToneRanger's step by step and build my own.

Another point in favor of known brands is that you can search Talk Bass for advice on getting the best tone, troubleshooting problems, and so forth.
