Pickup removal

I have a Musicman Bongo 4 with duel pickups and I was wondering if it's possible for me to remove one of the pickups and put a new pick guard on so it will play with just one. The second pickup is getting in the way when I try to play slap and instead of getting a whole new bass, I was wondering if I could simply do this
Thanks, Ben

I'd sell it and get the H model with the single pickup. The bridge pickup of the dual pickup models is closer to the bridge than the single pickup models.

I agree. You could get a custom guard, but I would sell it or post it for trade for a single H bongo. The pickup is in the "Music Man" sweet spot.

I looked into doing this with a Stingray.

The bridge pickups on the HH / HS models are in a different spot than they are on the H model. So, you can't pull your existing pickup and pickguard and replace the pickguard with a H model pickguard. The pickguard would have to be custom or the pickup would have to be relocated.

Can't say for sure if the Bongo is the same as the Stingray in this regard, but I would expect that it is.
