Pignose PGB-200 ... Anyone ever heard one?

Hey all,

Just a quickie...

Has anyone ever heard of this:

(well, that link doesnt go directly to the bass... just select 'PIGNOSE' on the left bar in the makers names. I guess its due to the page translation software)

I am considering getting one mainly because im intrigued and its my birthday in 3 weeks.

It might be ok for a travel base/practice base.

And if it sounds crap I can always use it to cook my lunch on (check the description for why lol)

Any comments apreciated.

It does indeed look crappy but as I already have 2 bass's, 2 ukulele's and I am buying a new £500 uke this month with overtime and birthday donations I figured with the change I could either by a Riza Stik Uke or a practice/throw around bass.

And, well, it doesnt need an amp..... and it would just be for practice.

Oh and its made by Aria aparently

I have one of those. The second from the bottom.

Bought it about 4 years ago.

Basically a really cool short scale practice bass. The sound isn't fantastic, but when you crank the volume you get a distortion which is like a thinner version of "Wynona's Big Brown Beaver". It doesn't sound bassy but they are solidly built and reliable. Plugged in, they sound ok too.

I looked around for reviews but couldn't turn any up. Seems like a Japan only type thing. You can pick them up for about 15,000 - 25,000 yen ($150-250). Shop around if in Japan or even online, you don't need to buy these new. There are a glut in second hand stores... try searching for Pignose on Japanese google.co.jp. Digimart is another good place to start.

I rather like mine and have grown fond of the unique tone. Quite fun to play "lead" when jamming with acoustic guitar and percussion.
