1) Nightlife is not important.
5 miles out of the downtown of New Orleans, nightlife is almost non-existent now due to lower population
2) In fact it can be down-right dull as far as I'm concerned.
It can be if you are more than 5 miles out of the downtown
3) We have a three-year-old daughter. I'd like for her to grow up rural.
Go 30 miles out of downtown New Orleans, and you are in the woods, Louisiana is not called sportsmen paradise for nothing
4) To avoid any politics, I'll just say that "Old-Fashioned" and traditional neighborhoods/states are fine and dandy by me.
you can get that.
5) I hate the wind. On second thought, I
loathe it.
How about a light breeze with the smell of decaying aquatic plant, food and beer, all mixed up. We do get strong winds up to 140-150 miles per hour, although rare it happens

remember you hide from the wind, run away from the water is our moto. Of course 45 miles out of the downtown, less chances of that
6) Snow would be nice, just not 8 feet of it in 2 hours.
2 inches every 5-10 years
7) Fireflies are a huge plus.
Once again, you can get that, and some more, those big oak trees have all sorts of wildlife
9) Off-road motorcycles, snowmobiling & 4x4ing is a MUST.
lots of trails around here, just no snowmobiling, but all my friends have YFZs!
