Curt Smith was obviously influenced by Pino during the making of this fine album, he emulated Pinos style to great effect. (I think he used a Warwick bass tho')

Pino Palladino played on all the tracks on that album except for the title track "sowing the seeds of love", which was Curt Smith (using a Warwick with a pick).
Curt Smith is a great player too IMO, though.

I sceond that emotion. Really, seriously, check out thos etwo Paul Young albums. The production sounds super dated, but Pino is great throughout and Paul Young is a great blue eyed soul singer. I think it's "No Parlez" that has a cover of the old Ann Peopbles tune "I'm Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down"- it's really good. I think that most people probably first heard of Pino through those two albums and then his work with Towenshend.

By the way, if you're running around Cardiff, keep an eye out for my buddy Martin Carr (used to be in the Boo Radleys). He hangs out with all those Super Furry geezers and fancies himself a bit of a bass player. If you see him, tell him taht Corin says that owning a couple of Sly & Robbie albums doesn't make you a bass player. And then give him a big kiss for me.

A mate of mine met the Furries in a local bar and thought they were bullsh*tters when told who they were! HE told THEM he was a band member of an up and coming group named "The Flying Helicoptors" and was on the verge of making it big.

They took all this nonsense in good humour and bought him a whiskey for his cheek!

Now, Millhouse, I'm not questioning your manhood or anything, don't get me wrong, but I'll tell you now to avoid drinking with the Super Furries at all cost. I hung out with them a bit when they did the Conan O'Brien show in NYC and we went out after the taping. Those buggers just about drank Manhattan dry and then started blabberinng in some crazy alien languag. I couldn't understand a word they said and I'm prerty sure I agreed to buy some land in Cardiff from one of them. Or maybe it was a wheelbarrow, I'm not completely sure. My head still hurts!

Paul Young's 'Wherever I Lay My Hat' has probably Pino's most famous bass line. Lyrical fretless with oodles of orgasmic chorus...Mmmmm.

For anyone in the UK. Pino was the house bassist for the Queen's Golden Jubilee concert.

This is THE Pino Palladino song IMO. He and Simon Phillips own that song.

I've been listening to Paul Rogers "Muddy Water Blues" album. Pino makes that album a standout with an upfront, effected fretless tone that just kills. JD

Check out David Gilmore's second solo album for some great Pino lines. Great fretless solo on the second cut "Murder". I agree that he is one of the great modern fretless voices.
