I've really been digging lately on Pino Palladino's stuff, especially the neo-soul stuff with d'angelo, the track playa playa on the voodoo album is a killer. I've been looking for some of the tracks/cd's where he plays with his fretless on...

Well, the classics are his albums with Gary Numan and Paul Young. Some of the best fretless playing ever.

I Assassin with Numan, his first fretless album, he bought the bass en route to the studio, for his audition I guess, had never played fretless before! it rather worked out for him I'd say! funny that story sounds apocryphal now, considering his playing on that disc, but I swear he said it in an interview once. I think he said it didn't even have strings on it at the time he picked it up.

Some nice tracks on Tears for Fears - Sowing the Seeds of Love, cool album, great fretless tracks for Pino, really nice ideas/feel's.

My favorite of his for Paul Young isn't so much the track (Wonderland) but the line for the song, it's a great part imo.
