Pissing off the wife

A real good choice for home use and one that really cuts well during live gigs in very small venues or small rehearsal rooms is, surprisingly, the Fender Rumble 100W with a 15" speaker. It should go for under 400US dollars new.
If you shop you can probably get an Ampeg B2R or B2RE and a 210 or 1-15 cab for $4/500. The classifieds on here have them all the time. Try to find a cab locally or the freight will kill you.
If all you're trying to do is piss off your wife, get a used, cheap Peavey TNT130. Heavy, Ugly, Loud and probably will still work after she throws it out in the front yard and runs over it with the family car a couple times, might even wreck the car.
I 2nd bullhorns' recommending the Fender Rumble 100, not alot of fans of it here but it works. I went to a audition at this cats house last year and he had just bought it. I auditioned thru it and was impressed with how well it played. I got the gig and he said ya wanna buy the amp, sure, so I cut him a check for about $150 less than he paid for it. I first just kept it under my PC station at home to use for practice but I tried it at a couple small gigs, one even outdoors once with no PA and dang it held up nicely.
Cool thing is, when your wife and neighbors finally tell you to shut that f*kin thing down, its got a headphone jack to plug into. And I also bought a patch line where I can run my PC or my CD player into the amp, then use headphones to here music from PC/CD and can play along with it at the same time without being heard. Instant bitch stopper. Ive even used it to play music from a small boombox thru it at a backyard BBQ, quite versatile.
