Just to nitpick, the requirements state...

...however, I suspect that many of us (my self included) have stacked humbuckers or split coil pickups in our P/J. Maybe it should read
"... P and a Jazz style pickup"
or simply
"...long as it has pickups in a P/J configuration"

Just something I noticed.

You are absolutely correct! Even my own PJ's have had mostly split coil jazz pickups.

I have fixed the master copy of the rules in post #462. Brevity is our friend, I just lopped off that whole part.

Yes indeed same location as my fender jazz specials which I prefer, not sure how much I'm into the active electronics but the bass was a bargain. I got it from Sweetwater apparently they sell used gear on eBay under a different name. As you can see there are 2 holes on the front of the body, someone installed a Yamaha synth on it. I pulled that and someone bought it off craigslist and I took off a hipshot bridge on it and sold it here . While the routing and electronics were done well the hipshot was terrible string spacing for it the D and G strings spaced out really odd (last photo) so I stuck the stock bridge back on it. I think I may rid the active electronics and make it a passive bass, I kinda want it to be a classic Fender bass with the low mass bridge and passive electronics, I just love the PJ set up on a P bass.

Does anyone have a recommendation on a nice passive set of PJ pickups with a good equal output? Im not sure how I would wire it, maybe master volume, master tone and a 3 way switch as I do want a switch.

Thanks! no it's a squier P5, there's a thread about it that peaked my interest & it convinced me to pull the trigger. the neck, tone & weight of it. I played it for a few months as is it's totally capable. but this is where I'm in life right now. my neck & back are injured permanently money has been mega tight & I need a bass that is not worth selling but a damn good bass. I love P's I love J's also now hooked on 5ers. so here it is.I had the J pup added in 70's position, it's from a squier VM 70's J5 Duncan design, with concentric knobs for V/T/V/T I did a lot of homework on this site.the end result is I'm really happy with it.
what a great palette of tones you can get out of it. it kills I'll be playing it out till I can't play out any more. thanks for asking

i also have squier amber P VM converted to PJ. but not 5.. shared it erlier in this thread.
