Interestingly enough, I was reading a paper the other day about why ice is slippery and it was saying that neither the reduction in the melting point by pressure, nor frictional heating explained what is happening with things like skating.

But at least I would experientially know, although for a very brief moment in time and just before being eligible for the Darwin awards, that my takeoff was not hindered by the treadmill, no matter how fast it and my feet were moving. "If I had wings I could fly..."

Well yeah, it made me and a few others understand, but I'm sure that the population that's never seen one before is going "huh?!"

Besides. Phase diagrams remind me of thermo, and, as i'm sure you've noticed, thermo makes me want to smash things.

Right now, the Plasma Physics Laboratory at the University of Saskatchewan. My real job is with the Air Force, but I'm hanging out here until they give me another degree or kick me out.

The only thing that is making me want to smash things right now is the faulty piezo-electric valve that we had on our tokamak that forced me to have to open it to atmosphere this morning, forcing many days of cleaning before I can even try to restart my experiment.
