Plastic jacks deteriorating

I understand what you are saying about cutting the components out. In this case I was not able to figure out a way to do it. The jacks were very close to eachother and flush to the board.

We shall see what happens when I solder in the new jacks. I hope I don't end up with another parts unit. (fingers crossed).
We have special tools to remove components like that. Since many of the products we still work on are legacy products with PCBs long out of production, we obviously don't want to damage a PCB on an otherwise good $2k+ amp. Customers get very grumpy, and damaged PCBs from other shops or end users are just about the last thing we want to deal with as repairs when possible get very expensive.
 
Maybe it´s just the plastic (PVC?) deteriorating:

On the second page of the attached doc, they list 'corrosion': the acid release could have got to the metal bits. But it would not explain why the nuts have not suffered (If I may say so), except if they do not come from the same goo batch.
Anyway, good you got it before it takes over the planet!
