Going on stage barefoot is fine if you're a girl. It's not fine if you're a guy. It's the reverse with shirts if the guy is fit.

It won't feel that great if you get shocked because of a possible electrical failure. Google barefooted musicians dying on stage because of electrocution. And I don't like to see barefooted people for aesthetical reasons

A number of years ago, someone here or on another site said that playing a Carvin bass was like having sex with your socks on.
I modded a couple of Carvin basses back in the day. I'm not sure I ever got either one to the point where the socks were taken out of the equation.
