Please Help ID this bass player from 86/87

Location: University of Texas El Paso, homecoming activities

I asked him that as well. He doesn't remember. Doesn't remember the genre of music either.
I assumed it was new wave or rock b/c of the Roland TR-909 in the background and def not metal by what he's wearing,

He’s got a British vibe to me, and I was always keeping tabs on those kinds of synthpop-ish bands of that time period, so I’ll keep racking my brain. There were so many that just kinda came and went.
I don’t think it’s the Flock Of Seagulls guy, ‘86 would have been a little late in the day for them and I don’t think he played a P bass. They weren’t on my radar much.

Looks like it could be Mark King, at least a little, but not the type of bass, or strap height, he's usually associated with (fancy basses worn high for slap):

On a hunch that maybe they were an ESP endorsee in 1986, I did some searches and.... ...didn't find anything useful. The ESP site has a big list of names, but no photos for face matching...

Lol. Doesn't look anything like King, IMO. I also don't think Level 42 would be playing a Homecoming in Texas in that timeframe.

No. At that time his hair was much longer, curlier, and not bleached.
