Wow, getting a lot closer in terms of looks:

Wears the bass at the same height too.

A big step closer, maybe even a winner?
I like this early Spectors with the funky pickup shape.

In Chrome, right click on the image and click on "Search image with Google" - brings it up in Google Lens, which does a surprisingly great job of finding info on pictures.

(Disclaimer - I work for Google, but not on anything closely associated to Lens. Or Chrome)

The switch from Google's reverse image search to Google Lens, was that just a marketing thing? Any time i try a reverse image search with Lens, 99.9% of the results are just shopping links. I'm trying to find another source for this image, i don't want to buy socks like the person in the image is wearing!

It's not Scott Smith. I knew him and he looked nothing like that.
In '86 Scott would not have had a mic on stage.
Loverboy didn't play El Paso in '86 and didn't tour in '87.
It was rare to see Scotty with anything other than his main Spector or the backup one. He had other basses and occasionally played them on stage but if he had a white ESP I never saw or heard about it.
