I do this kind of work and have done for 35 years if you want it so you can’t see it give it to a pro if your happy to be able to still see it slightly above is good advice getting the stain color right is half the battle good luck

I’m actually trying to keep the wood showing and just fix the scratched stain around the bare wood.
The bass has 5 areas that need worked on. I’m going to try everyone’s advice with sanding and buffing on a spot on the back. If I can’t make it happen, it’s getting sent to a local luthier I have used before.
