Plug-in headphone amps you've loved or hated

I've had the Fender Mustang Micro and currently use the Mustang Plus model. Both are probably made more for guitar, but usable bass settings can be easily obtained. The Micro is definitely more limited in terms of overall control. The Plus has a tiny screen which makes it much easier and faster to change settings. The Plus also has a tuner function and settings can be adjusted with a smart phone app. Bluetooth smartphone connection is a snap with both, although the Plus model annoyingly cuts off the beginning of songs which the first model didn't do. Hopefully Fender can fix this glitch with a firmware update.

It looks like the price of both has gone up a tiny bit. I was able to get a nice discount as a first time Fender buyer, but I am not sure if that deal is still in place anymore.

Hated this one…70s technology at it’s most ridiculous. I paid about $30 for one, the battery went into the headband (notice the zipper). With no EQ to tame the lows of a bass, it was fart city. Notice the jack for a wall wart supply right below the power switch. No wonder the Scholz Rockman was such a wild success. People are listing these on eBay and Reverb as “vintage.” Gag me with a spoon.

I have used a few but my favorite was the original Bass Pocket Rock-It. Had that one almost 20 years. It died. I found the updated model in a pawn shop. Had that one for several years before it died. Then I tried a Joyo which looks like the Vox models. That lasted a few years. It went dead and I bought another. That one eventually died as well. I now have the Vox but not the Bass version. The GC I went to didn't have the Bass version. So far it's been working fine but at some pint I will buy the Bass version. I prefer the ones that have an AUX in so I can plug in my MP3 player. Those Bluetooth models are really nice though.

I have a Donner that looks pretty similar to that Vox, called the Basement. The sound quality is Meh but it does ok for the price I suppose. That Fender Mustang Plus looks significantly better.

PC audio out via 1/8" trs to my JDS Labs Atom

Powers any of my headphones nicely (Beyer, HiFiMan, Grado, AKG). Friend has a Schiit headphone amp that sounds great too, and the build quality of the Schiit is a bit more robust in terms of the chassis

By 'plug in' do you mean portable (as in small or battery powered)? The Atom and Schiit are not battery powered and they are about the size of an 8 track tape :roflmao:
