PLX-1804 Parallel

I think your right Monroe55 about not erasing it. Its why TB is here. What ever is hidden we the Bass Players will find out here & will see it for what it is.
Like Amp makers putting out false stats about rms all the other jurgon.
Now the Aussie QSC wholesale company is trying to make money on me.They think they know more than Bob Lee when it comes to QSC Poweramps.......I Dont Think So !!
Ive gave them a blasting the past few days about saying that the will need 2 hrs work to change 12 resistors when Bob told me himself that it needs only 4 changed.Changing 4 resisitors shouldnt take bloody 2hrs to do.I could do it quiker than that but the warranty will be void.
Il keep postin on this till i get somewhere.I hate being stuffed around by people that `think` they know what going on.
Bobby told me to tell them to ring QSC so thats what i did, now im in waiting again for a silly answer from TAG-Technical Audio Group Australia.
I hate this process !!

PS- there sales man on the phone said that one reason its so hard to get this done is because the PLX-1804 is made in China........Um What ???????

Uh, no! It's made in Costa Mesa, California. About halfway between Disneyland and the Pacific Ocean. ;)

Bob please follow me in this if you dont mind Please (i know i said please twice). If ive got you on my side il be able to get these guys by the balls for trying to screw me over for an easy procedure that probably takes 20mins & costs $50 for labour.They want $345 in total , well im not paying that much no way no how !!
Look in the end it may take you to `Step In` for me Bob to sort it out but im trying my best over here.I feel like im in freakin quicksand. Im going to keep trying & pushing for it to happen without the big price.If you have to help n the end well il be in your debt.
PS-How long would it take you to change the 4 resistors Bob ??

I'm no Bob Lee, but if I were Bob, I would find all this a bit vexing.

He's already said to use the knobs on the equipment to get to the desired outcome. Growly seems hell-bent for leather to get the resistors swapped out, and is imposing a request for what seems to me to be an extraordinary favor from Bob. I mean there's customer service, then there are people who have the tumerity to make unreasonable requests because ... uhhh ... dunno ... they're special?

Sooaahhhh, Bob, how many times has the requested modification been made at the factory?

I think Growly has started another PLX1804 thread on TB. Seems frantic. He's running wild now! Bob, you've got to reel him in. Bring him back down to reality, the reality that QSC amps rock!
Just get that 1804 already Growly. I can tell by your posts its the amp you need. Your next post should be a youtube video of you playing through your PLX1804 rig with a giant smile on your face.:bassist: I cant wait to watch it. Good luck.

I can help. There are 13,257 PLX 1804 users out there, and none have had to customize it. 1,231 of those are bass players using a preamp with it, and 729 of those are using SansAmp stomp boxes. I'll bet not a single one of them has modified the PLX. Buy the danged amp and use it.

Your right on the dollar Munjibunga, how can all these people be wrong....
I want to find out as much as possible about what im going to buy.At times one can go overboard in trying to get that perfect sound & the power to back it. Ive bought a cheap amp in the past for the power ratings & features only to find it breaks down after a year & its not fixable.So i really dont wanna just throw money around & then find its not right. QSC has a rep for durability & thats about all that you need after you pick which amp your gonna get.

Zombie resurrection.

For no particularly good reason, I’ve got one of these units inbound to replace a Crest ProLite 3.0. Don’t ask, could be an Imelda Marcos shoe issue.

Looking at the parallel input situation (and I did RTFM), I’m wondering why not just put in a switch? Has anyone done that? Should be pretty trivial, unless there are real estate issues inside. A Y cable or XLR to TRS adapter just sounds PITA. Any good reason not to just add the switch?

I just read through the thread after you resurrected it, and wondered why no one mentioned using the parallel input mode. Turns out that was a feature of the Series I PLX amps that was left off of the Series II amps :rollno:.

There's no reason you CAN'T maybe drill a hole in the chassis and install a DPST switch between the + and - input legs on both channels, if the reason(s) WHY are compelling enough. I wouldn't do it to a unit that is still under warranty, for one thing. And I would find using one of the short cables that BasturdBlaster linked to a LOT more conventient, making the whole mod thing irrelevant.
