trying get everything I can get out of this bass until I can afford an upgrade. is there much difference between the aircraft cable and cord on a ply bass? anything will be better than the wire one that is on it I'm thinking. Thanks.

Double Bass plywood bass. tailpiece cable or cord?

I've never used the cord, but heard that they can slip even if installed properly. Anything would be better than the coat hanger currently on it though. If you don't have the proper tools for the aircraft cable, a kit can be purchased so you can adjust the length and get the after lengths (distance between bridge and tailpiece) tuned to a fourth or a fifth as close as possible. Should improve the sound of the bass somewhat, but more so on a carved bass.

Are they hard to install? I’ve got a nice cable type tailpiece wire and I have no idea how to put it on. I need to do some more digging on YouTube it seems to find out how to put this sucker on.
I recently went over to the marvin tailpiece and can honestly say, make sure you center that single wire going over the saddle. Get out some measuring tools and get the absolute center.. made a huge difference to the sound and feel when it was setup properly.
