I haven't really looked too hard at any signature string sets. I've tried a set or two of Billy Sheehan signature Rotos, and they're pretty cool. But that was eons ago.

Sheehan set has a specific single gauge that is not available on its own.
I've never tried them but the DR Jonas Hellborg set always looked interesting.
So through page 1 we have two guys with the utmost confidence in their knowledge of the matter of a certain set of strings yet their assertions are completely at odds with each other. Awesome.

That's what got me interested me in them, but nowadays some manufacturers offer single strings in different gauges, so it's possible to create your own custom set.
I'm hoping that every TB user that buys a set just mails me $2!
Those strings are a design that's not available in any form or fashion from anyone else for sure! DR doesn't even make anything else remotely like them.

Yes, but Rotosound does not offer the 43 as a single on its own. You can make a set using singles 40/45 65 85 110 but will pay more than the set as singles.

To me, the availability of signature strings are a marketing strategy whose purpose is a better profit margin. Be careful of "spin".

Doubtful. There is usually very little $$$ exchanging hands for a signature set of strings. Can't speak for any other company, but the signature sets I've worked on have been more relationship-driven than anything else.
I write the specs, @SLaPiNFuNK, so I'm dead accurate on this. You only need to check the back of the packages with the gauges to see that the DYB105 is the same in both sets.
There is nothing different between the Flea sig and the M3045 set. Now, that said, the whole marketing reel about the E string having the first cover made of stainless steel for added strength and clarity IS correct.
Here is where everyone is having a problem with understanding this and why I keep having to repeat myself...and also why I really hate working with marketing firms, who originally wrote the copy long before I arrived.
Because the old marketing reel said that the E string on the Flea sig set was special but nothing was mentioned about the E string in the regular Bass Boomers line, everyone assumed (and is still assuming) that the sets were different.
We put a stainless first cover on ALL the Bass Boomers starting at DYB100 (possibly DYB95, I'd have to check on Monday), for the reasons stated in the marketing reel that is only found on the Flea sig set. I know this, because when I was editing all the specs earlier in the year (when I made the switch for Bass Boomers to go to 37.25" winding length), I made sure that this was still correct.
I hope this puts this whole issue to rest. As to WHY the sets are the same, from what I've heard (keeping in mind the Flea sig set was around well before I was and the person in charge of creating that set no longer works at GHS), when we talked to him about a signature set, those were the gauges he liked and the ones he uses all the time. So, we stuck with that.
I didn't know that, the Sheehan set does make sense for Swing Bass users who prefer a lighter gauged G-string, along with a heavier E-string.
I'm personally a very satisfied GHS user, and you offer custom gauges of their various sets, at very attractive prices, along with excellent service, - and advice.
Pressurewounds and Boomers suit my needs so perfectly, you'd think they're my signature sets!
Well, really disappointed to see a brand like GHS would have information on the product description made to look different from other products. At least there is no price difference on the set. Thank you for the wasted time I've spent explaining the difference which GHS posts on the product description to customers.
Change the description of the product on your website to reflect the actual product ...

I've been working diligently across the entire string line to get rid of the old marketing reel and update it with copy that is based on actual musician-speak and lingo; you know this. Not done in the slightest, but still moving forward.
Would be nice if you at least reached out to your dealers and let them know this information... Easy enough to add a line in the email blasts you send to dealers every week...

There's little I can do to remedy time lost on this, since this whole thing was put into motion before I got there, but I will make sure that ALL the Bass Boomers sets reflect this (since it's used across the board).
