Pointy Ibanez Info

Anyone have any info on this Ibanez? I know the guitar version is very popular, but never knew there was a bass version. The small info I could find seems to be out of the US. The photo is off a Japanese website.

It's not the basic RD type bass though. It's a bit fancier

I believe it is an RD727 custom. I think it's from 1991. I have seen them in blue and a wine red. I would rock the s*** out of it.

Basswood body, 3-piece maple neck, maple fingerboard, and shark tooth inlays that match the body color. 34" scale with 22 frets. Accu-Cast BII bridge, Gotoh tuners, and Ibanez P/J pickups.

Yeah. The guitar equivalents were released in 91 too. I just couldn't find anything about the bass.

I had a student once with one of these, Japanese made, and the thinnest (front to back neck) neck I've ever felt.

Totally not my style, but it played like butter and had an incredible tone!

I had a black 727 back in the early 90's. Was a great little bass. Was light and had a great tone. Especially for metal. I almost cried when it was stolen.

I bought a white one in '91' Loved it and rocked the poopie out of it. Played just as nice as the RG's. Unfortunately Rock & Roll took it's toll. It was stolen once. When I got it back it had severe road rash. Later during the end of a set at Gazarri's it suffered a cracked headstock in a fit of R&R stage rage. Also along the way it was graffiti'd with a bunch of stupid stickers. All I have left now is the body which is literally cracked in two (don't remember how that happened). Damn the 90's were fun. So many good times that I would'nt trade for world (well, maybe for the actual planet). Thought I'd see about finding one. Looks like they're arent many, and the few i've seen are just about original price. Maybe I'll restore this one.
