Personally, I support this fight for the "right to shorts" but nonetheless feel the stage ban should remain in place.

I think it's a great idea. I take more issue with people wearing hats indoors than wearing shorts or skirts.
One of these days I'm going to start telling people I'm Celtic & wear a kilt.

That's cool that your friend felt comfortable enough to wear this out, but a little creepy that

Not a "manpurse", that's a modern take on the sporran.
I wear kilts fairly often. Usually from UtiliKilt. They're super comfortable.

Please forgive my fashion faux pas. I was modeling a well-known rock hero but evidently miscalculated.
There was a time in the U.K. when boys always wore shorts to school...and everywhere else. No kid owned a pair of jeans.
Most of the schools had uniforms...and shorts were part of the uniform for boys.
Don't know why the adult policy-makers have got their knickers in a twist (no pun intended) these days.

In the school I teach at, we allow hair dyed any color, facial hair of any sort on boys, visible tattoos and piercings, but god help you if you wear a hat.

When I was a kid, the school district where I lived forbade shorts. It was just south of Detroit, and the schools typically had no air conditioning. Most people also had no air conditioning in their homes or cars. On the other hand, the schools in my present locale allow shorts, in the same climate. Some schools have a/c, others don't. The high school where my band practices has no a/c.
One classmate showed up for a final exam in shorts. The teacher kicked him out of the classroom. So he traded with a girl in the hallway, came back in wearing girl's jeans, and took the exam.
