Well, now, not so sure about that. In my case that would take a small herd to get a pair to cover. YO!
Neon Spandex, Cut Up Tee Shirt, Fishnet Arm Gloves, is mandatory at most open mics, It's The Law
I rarely wear anything to an open mic. Oddly enough no one else wants to play or even stay very long. It is a good opportunity to work on my solo chops though.

If you want to know how to look at an open mic, I'd suggest you go to a few and observe. You'll want to know the style/cast of characters, anyway.
Oh, man, I didn't mean to imply anything except covering my expanded waist and butt. LOL!
Focus on the music an how good you sound as a band, rather than the costumes and how you look. Sound good and forget about all that poseur stuff.
