POLL: Most irritating TB classifieds thread replies

None of that bothers me because any post keeps interest in my item alive.

I, as a buyer, will bypass FS threads that have a lot of noise or drama. A popular idea seems to be “all attention is good attention.” My personal feelings as a prospective buyer run counter to that and I can’t believe it’s a unique reaction. I want to avoid that noise/drama and besides, “if that knucklehead is interested in that item, do I really want it?”

Someone noted that I haven’t transacted any business on TB. That’s true. There are other musical forums besides TB.

I don’t get your logic. If the item for sale is something you want, why would a random dumb post or ten, get in the way of you wanting something? Outside of the closed loop of the ad, who in the world would know you bought it?

That's just it. It's not logical. It's an emotional response I have. I'm put off by it and that affects how I feel about the item.

I believe it's against the rules to call out someone on price. Or used to be, at least.

IIRC, the rules dictate that posts be positive in nature, no non-positive comments, on someone's FS ad. Would you want spoiling your party? If there is a discrepancy in the ad description please PM the seller and be nice about it.

Rules are rules ... as stated ... we must abide by them ... although this is not a simple matter ... it may be food for lawyers in s court actually ... if I sell a bass stating that it is a shell pink coloured item whereas, in reality, it’s of a different kind of pink, somebody reading the ad. may object and say “.. isn’t it of that different kind of pink?” ... this is not a positive comment but is it against the rules? ... probably yes ... then PM ..

Color is one thing, as computer monitors don't all show colors the same, unfortunately. But a $ amount, for example is not so ambiguous.

yes but you know in a discussion about opinions many things can be considered as subjective ... the truth stays always somewhere in between ... IN MEDIO STAT VIRTUS ... on the other hand then i can also quote DURA LEX SED LEX ... so i don't discuss ... i'll have a look at the market place rules ...

The only question I can't abide is "is it still available" Anything else is an annoyance but that's the cost of not giving it away to GC for their trade in value.

Selling is work. A good salesperson gets paid. I think the average seller here on TB is more educated on their listing than probably 90% (citation needed) of real estate agents I've encountered. Ever run across this in a listing?: "BATVAI," meaning “buyer's agent to verify all information,” and "IDRBNG," which means "information deemed reliable but not guaranteed." In other words they have no obligation or idea that they are factually representing a property. I'd rate most TBers FS posts as more thoroughly constructed.

The most annoying thing to me is the dude that tries to circumvent the 1 bump per 24 hours by posting more useless information that could have been included in the Original post. “that you can find all over YT” then 4 hours later “here’s another video I found!” Get out of here...

I've been guilty of a few of those. Mainly the "wish I had the funds...GLWTS". I just look at that one as a free bump for the seller.

I voted with the kidney one. As someone who waited five years to get a kidney, that one kind of rubs me the wrong way. Rest assured, if I was waiting for a kidney again (I got one last year) and someone replied that way, i would be hounding them to get information on donation to them.

I know August is a slow month for gear sales across the board but that doesn't stop the TB classifieds threads from filling up with the same obnoxious replies from tire kickers who have no intention of buying anything - even when sellers ask to keep everything in a PM to keep threads clean and/or they don't check back on the ads as much as they check the PM's.

If I missed something, comment below and I'll add it (you gotta vote to see the results)

I'm probably guilty of one, but GLWTS. It's a pointless reply that gets the heart racing when a notification pops up.
