How important is a Reverse Effect in Delay/Looping Pedals?

good question. personally, i think a reverse delay is better for other instruments instead of bass, but why not have it? could lead to some creative stuff.

The SMMH has a great feature where you can press a pedal to play up to the last 6 seconds backwards. Great for using at the end of a phrase. Not so much a fan of regular reverse delay, although it is fun to mess around with.

If you are going to invest in a really nice delay pedal, you may as well cough up the extra cash for this feature. I can't think of a bass application right off the top of my head (other instruments, yes, as Jimmy stated), but you never know. Something might come up down the road.

I own at least two pedals that will do reverse delay/reverse reverb. But then, I am also a guitard.

I like the reverse function on my RC20XL looper but rarely use it on delay pedals. Sometimes I'll play something into the looper, reverse it and then play normal sounds over the top. You can get some pretty cool backing tracks happening when you reverse a whole phrase.

I voted B. Possibly fun to mess with, but thats about it for me.

My view of delay effects is "tainted" by the fact that I've been an electronic noise tinkerer for decades but I'm only a relative newcomer to bass guitar. For electronic music, a reverse delay is one of the super-awesomest effects ever, and I use it all the time. So I voted "very". But realistically, I'm not sure I'd use it on bg, at least not often/much.

i a looping pedal? absolutely essential. as is an octave up/down feature. also, volume knob for the loop (really, i know of at least one that will not have it when it comes out, or so the designer said).

I use reverse delay, but I play mostly electronic, and a lot of it is pretty experimental, so YMMV. But it is a very cool effect to use in intros, outros and end-of-the-set freakouts.

I use a reverse delay in many songs. Most recently in one of the funkiest basslines I've written.

I have a Boss DD-20 with the reverse feature. My guitardist and I will both use our reverse delay at practice just goofing around. Will we use it live someday? Most likely. Will we record with it? That's a thought...

Personally, I do not use reverse delay for anything that I have needed to play. I owned a DD-7 for a time, but eventually realized that it just wasn't something that I needed. However, I do realize that there are some possible bass applications that could be very cool for others to tinker around with.

No plans to do a looper. There are a lot of them out there and I don't think we have much to add. This is going to be a standalone delay pedal, so we are talking about reverse delay effects and not reverse in the looper sense.

These days, given that there are so many looper options, I don't really see the need every delay pedal out there to be a looper also.

I guess my real question is, if a delay pedal didn't have reverse, would you care?
