I loved my Classic 400. It's loaded with a bunch of EHX and a JJ preamp tubes, and some Winged C Svetlana KT88s. Sounded boobies until it died. It's sitting in our regional tube wizard's shop, waiting for some divine intervention. I'm pretty sure it has tried to kill him a few times. But, he's got a real nice track record and reputation for being thoroughly awesome. So if it never gets fixed, it just wasn't meant to be.

"Always remember to use only one arm when working on high voltage equipment, because a shock through both arms has a pathway straight through your heart"...
My dad, the rocket engineer.
He also taught me to work on my provision skills with women instead of bodybuilding because biological imperative etc etc.
Both good pieces of advice, thanks Dad!

The TV repair man (yes I am old) who fixed our rented TV always worked with one hand in the pocket of his brown coat.
At the time I thought he was a bit lazy.
Many years later I know the reason why

For qualified techs, the most common injury is back injury when working on tube amps… just sayin’.

It’s the unqualified techs that typically enjoy all the other injuries IME.

Doesn’t surprise me.
The manual handling regs in Uk state 20kg max for a 1 man lift.
When I was working in industry we ran courses on safe lifting due to days lost to sickness
What does an SVT weigh? Enough to cause back injury quite easily

Absolutely enough to cause back injury. Same for amps like the Bass 400/400+, Dual and Triple Rec, etc.

It's the size in addition to the weight. I often move 5 gallon buckets of paint for work, about the same weight as the 400+.
I've pulled back muscles loading this amp, but the buckets move differently.
I'm built like a T Rex.
Yes it’s often the incorrect movement not the actual weight. My wife 5ft tall and 61 years old can lift 20kg with several reps no problem on a proper bar with Correct form.
I can hump bags cement all day long but I injured my back a few year ago lifting a chop saw into a van because I twisted when lifting.
My eldest can lift huge weights in the gym on an Olympic bar. He trained the wife to lift and always emphasises the importance of correct form when lifting
