Jeez, I guess it really depends.
I have a Geddy Jazz that feels anemic, so I prefer my AmStd P.
But for guitars, I have two SGs. One is an '08 Standard with the baseball bat neck, and the other is a 2014 '61 reissue with the slim neck (nut width is the same on both). I MUCH prefer the slim neck of the '61 RI, which is why I bought it (last week), so now the '08 Std is for sale.
I do like the wider fretboards on them, though - my Strat feels comparatively cramped.
Maybe I just like a wider fretboard, which would explain my P preference over the J.
