Roundwounds - I default to 45-105 Rotosounds. I tend to use 45-65-80-105 on 34" scale, and 45-65-85-105 on 32-33" scale.
Flatwounds - I've used 40-90, 39-96, 43-100, and 45-105. I've even thought of trying 52-110!
Other. For my next flatwound foray it will be 50 65 100 130ish.
Can anyone guess what I’m up to? Bonus points if you can guess what brand might be the shortest route to those gauges. Hint. It’s a set plus a subsitute single
Flats are more of a mixed bag. Some sets, a 45-105 is too much tension for me so I'll go down to 45-100 or 40-100. I really like the Fender light flats' gauges: 45-60-80-100. That's juuuuuuust right.
