Poly octave stranglehold? (or why aren't POG / OC3 types in MULTI EFFECT pedals?)

Mod Duo update:

I tried the live iso alpha for the mod duo. It is an alpha release and it wasn't on the hardware of the actual device so there is not a a huge amount that can be gleaned from the experience in terms of the final release. What u can say is that I ran a board with 3 parallel pitch shifters along with a clean tone and it sounded like usable audio. The tracking was pretty great, easy better than eventide pedals with a bass. My low E open could have been better in terms of some glitchy tones but for polyphonic pitch shifting with a bass, the software handled it without issue. I will try to record since of it when I get a way to record without using my PC, as the iso makes it impossible for me to use protools while running the live iso.

Long story short, it can handle polyphonic pitch shifting on bass.

i once made a patch on the pod HD for a pog type of vibe. The HD series can run two signal paths and has a virtual mixer so you can for example split the signal put a pitchglide i think it was called (looks like a whammy 4 on pod hD edit) on one side and a bass octave (sim of an ebs octave) on the other side, then using the virtual mixer I combined them back to mono and had 3 octaves going. It really wasn't a very usable thing though. I ended up putting some delay and reverb on it and it was cool for swells but that was about it.

I'm not an expert on octaves pedals. I have the new nano pog and I can't really compare it to the previous models as its my first ehx pedal, but I like it a lot. I have it in a loop feeding a sans amp gt2 for more of a Royal blood fake guitar type of vibe I can blend in with my normal bass tone. But unlike Royal blood (who doesn't have a guitar player) I mainly use it so when our one guitar player wants to play more of a lead type part the energy doesn't drop off.

Going back to the original post I think the reason why multiple octave octaves don't find their way onto multis is Because it's not a very usable tone. I think on the pog for example most people tend to use the dry and either or so they only have two notes going instead of three.

the boss sy signal flow diagram from the manual
each osc can be assigned its own pitch, waveform, volume, filter and sequence.
seems powerful, thought a bit expensive, about twice as much as a HOG2.

interesting! how'd you get to try it? it's officially on sale a week from now.

I had no idea Line6 multi-FX had dual chains. I looked into it and noticed they also have dual send/returns which BOSS does not. What's more, the POD HD500+ MIDI implementation is considerably superior to any BOSS GT multi-FX. So far, the HOG2 is the best poly octave out there and it's fully programmable with MIDI, a lot of stuff could be assigned with the HD500+. Currently, I'm paralleling the HOG2 to my BOSS GT8 via MIDI, flipping through patches on both simultaneously. I assigned the CTL switch to the gliss/hold and the EXP to the whammy up for an additional two octaves up. There are 4 outputs coming from the board:

UPDATE: hi, sorry for the long silence. Wanted to say thanks to everyone for weighing in. I figured I'd share the results of the past year developing the band's sound. Here's a live session recorded last week, all sounds are real-time, bass guitar and drums:
