Polyurethane fretboard

I recently purchased a G&L tribute JB bass , maple neck and fingerboard. The polyurethane on the fretboard is so thick it's yellow. I also have a G&L tribute Kiloton, maple neck satin finish, love it. Debating on sanding the JB fretboard or should I just leave it be ?

Yep "vintage" tint, I don't like it either.

Sanding it all off without destroying the frets would be an impressive and laborious feat. Sanding it to remove just the gloss would be easy and can be done with Scotchbrite pads and will polish your frets at the same time. To get rid of the yellow I think the easiest way would be to pull the frets, strip and level the board. Then refret and finish with something you like.

God no, a razor blade or a cabinet (card) scraper would take an hour to remove the poly .

Another option is seeing if you can find one on eBay, or at the G&L store .
