This man has done a lot of good but I will never accept some of his espoused viewpoints. The Catholic church has caused a lot of harm during its existance and John Paul was the first to acknowledge and apologize for some of it. For that alone he has my respect.

This is a man that has faced down superpowers, fought through an assassination attempt, flew in the face of his own church's past convictions, has faced advancing age and deteriorating health with grace and dignity, and taught multiple generations right from wrong.

The Pope has well and truly walked the walk. He has earned his rich reward on the other side. Godspeed..........

I am not a religious man, but I do grieve with everybody else.

John Paul II was, is, and will forever be one of the greatest men to ever grace our earth. He was the “People’s Pope” he spoke 27 different languages, kissed every continent except Antarctica, and touched the lives of Billions of people.

I wish to speak for everybody when I say, “John Paul II you will never be forgotten, you will live on in our memories forever. May your god be waiting for you with open arms.”

I wasn't speaking for myself. I'm not Catholic. However, I've encountered many who have a lot of bitterness against the "Holy Church" for a number of reasons. Whether or not their reasons are worth anything or not is another thing.

I wasn't sure if you were speaking for yourself or not, so I tried to word the response to reflect that. At any rate, it holds true for more than just opinions of the church.
