The ones with “soft clip injection” are the first ones. I can’t remember exactly when it changed I’ll try to get some more info but I believe they started making the ones labeled “overdrive” before the Johnk mod happened, so there is no real way to know if you are buying one with the mod from the factory or not.

i have a strong feeling that they never changed the original cap value of 1nf.I have a NIB Pork Loin arriving soon which I'd assume is not from the first run. I will confirm the factory cap value and report back.

I keep buying and trying other overdrive pedals, but none of them can seem to beat my modded Pork Loin. Most of the others I’ve tried have been good in their own right, but the modded Pork Loin just hits the sweet spot. It’s a shame it got discontinued, but maybe they’ll release a smaller version of it, with the modded tone cap already in it. The Southampton Fifth Gear is the most recent overdrive I’ve tried. It’s really good, and may be my second favorite of all the ones I’ve tried, but the Pork Loin still wins for me.
The only other overdrive I’d still like to try is the Free the Tone Bass Blaster BB-2, but it’s around $400. I’m just not going to pay that much for an overdrive pedal, especially when it still may not even surpass my Pork Loin.
I need some help setting my modded pork loin up. I play a MM Bongo 5 HH, and when I engage the pedal it gets lost in the mix. I’m running only a compressor, to pork loin, to DI box and PA. I really want to get pick attack out of my overdrive tone and set up, and feel I have the tools to do it, but can’t get my tone there. Any help here? Something I should do on board my Bongo, or even my
Amp? I have a Berg forte FWIW. Thanks!
Funny thing... I actually bought a Damnation Audio MBD-2 about two weeks ago, and returned it after trying it. I didn’t like the flavor as much as my Pork Loin, and also didn’t care for the buffer in the MBD-2. It was obviously a very high quality pedal. Just wasn’t for me.Not sure if you ever considered a Damnation MBD1 or 2, but that is the OD that took out my modded PL. I was like you too, after I modded my PL, I loved it!!! A lot. I didn't feel the need to search for an OD after that. But me being me, I of course tried more. I got the MBD1 and shortly after, the PL came off the board. And the MBD is still there. They are alike in that they are both very natural sounding and transparent. To me anyway. Check out the MBD if you haven't. It's amazing. Best bass OD I've ever had hands down...

I’ve had a Grizzly as well. It was really good, but not my favorite. I’ve heard great things about the Gasoline. They seem to be hard to find.Well, there you go! haha Ever heard of the Grizzly?? Or Gasoline? I've heard really good things about those. Never tried either one. They are a tad pricey too, but well worth it from what I hear.
Sounds to me like the PL is the one for you.
