Portable, reliable rig that doesn't run on house electricity.

Crap I really dig this power bank thing idea.
I found one called EcoFlow River 600. Yeah it is pricey but it seems like it is just a one, huge battery.

It is rated at 600W. Would that be fine to run my amp? My gain is at noon and the volume is at the first notch out of 10 :)

It should be plenty fine. I have run my Mesa D800 using a 300Wh battery. At home volumes, you should have plenty of juice for a long time. The one caveat is that all these kinds of batteries have peak limits, and will shut themselves off if the peak is momentarily exceeded. This can happen when you turn the amp on. So if your amp has a big power draw when you turn it on, it's possible the battery will shut off.

However, I've only had that happen with a 1200W PA system. It has simply not been an issue for my 800W amps (Mesa, Quilter). i would be surprised if your 500W amp has that issue.

600 watts is its maximum output. If you’re running a 600watt amp through it it will last longer. But I think you need something bigger. Or two of these.

Okay, I know you aren't looking for electricity advice, but just in case it helps you: I had severe issues with amp hum and it turned out to be caused by powerline ethernet plug adapters. They are horribly RF noisy and can cause all sorts of issues with amplification kit. My problems went away when I moved entirely to a WiFi mesh network and ditched all the powerline stuff.

Just in case you are running that type of network.

I'd forgotten about those things... yes they do indeed put noise on your nice clean mains signal, that's how they work! Good call.

I just wanted tips on a rig, not my electricity. Gosh.

Thanks though.

i understand your point - you want to know about amps.

however...

your question did make me almost dial my phone to ask my dad, a local 3 electrician with just about 50 years of experience, to ask him if this is possible.

genuinely, it seems the problem could be solved without buying a new amplifier.

As I'm not a member of Instagram or any other Social Networking platform, I wonder if you'd consider posting the information which lies at the end of that link.? Thanks.

You have a grounding and or shielding issue if the buzzing goes away when you touch the strings.
Yes yes, you and others can speculate on that and keep this thread going.
My basses are fine, I did the ground and shield work and nothing. I'm moving on to a mobile rig because I'm sick and tired of not playing my bass for a month. I'm beyond pissed off and totally over trying "solutions".
When I talk to the landlord etc I'll keep it to myself, hopefully she decides to look into it if she has some sense in her :)

I made a thread a few years back with questions about how to deal with the noise floor caused by questionable wiring in my (rented) house.

Got a lot of the same flak and runaround that you're getting here.

Seems like most people who post on TB live in rural Nowheresville and just can't accept "No, I don't want to bother my landlord about this, they wouldn't do anything about it even if I did."

Wish I could say I found a solution, but my solution was to move (for unrelated reasons, obviously). When I was checking out places I brought a little 2ch audio interface and a pair of headphones with me. Nothing plugged into it, just dimed the gain and listened for anything louder than the white noise. Any place that had an audible hum/buzz I walked out of without following up.

What an unproductive discussion we've been having, hmm? Sticking our noses as far as into OP's rental contracts is really not appropriate.

It's perfectly legal here in the UK for someone to build a second dwelling on their land and run power from the main dwelling supply, just as you can do the same for a barn or any other outbuilding. And if the owner wants to rent out that building with a share agreement on power bills or just factor power into the rent they can legally do so. I guess it's the same in Sweden.

Yes of course, but no matter where you are in north america or europe, electricity has to be done "up to code." The OP's dwelling doesn't require it's own "power supply" but it absolutely does require a dedicated "breaker box" or "subpanel." If OP's power outlets have simply been tied into an existing outlet or light circuit in the original house, that is a big, dangerous NO-NO.

lots of not reading what you write and mansplaining going here. sheesh.

There certainly has been some of that but, to use an less sexist term, there has been plenty of unsplaining by the OP. They express themselves and their issues remarkably poorly. They are asking for a "best solution" for a problem they can't clearly define and then rejecting everyone's attempts at clarification. They have a better idea of what solution they have already decided they want than what the problem that needs to be addressed is. Think about it for a second, the OP insisted that the problem had to be either the wiring or the pickups... but didn't replace either of those things, instead option for an amp. Please note the most critical information towards solving this issue wasn't provided until page 4. Of thread 2. The buzz goes away when they touch the strings. This is now an obvious grounding issue. An appliance on the circuit OP shares with the house could be generating a hum and a badly wired outlet could be failing to shunt it to ground. It probably could also have been diagnosed with an outlet tester, as explained by someone on page 1. Of thread 2. And OP went ahead with their own ideas about what voodoo tech to buy next, anyway, instead of addressing the fundamental issue. What a postmodern capitalist solution.

Ok, sorry, I'll put you on ignore then. Sorry to bother.

A possible cause of noise in an electrical service line is due to old CRT televisions and microwave ovens. If you are on friendly terms with your neighbor, ask to unplug these appliances in their house and check if the noise goes away.

If you read early on in the thread the OP - who probably wishes she'd never mentioned the power supply - said she has a separate breaker box / subpanel in her dwelling.

You guys who are all about up-to-code stuff would have been horrified by some of wiring in places I rented in Belgium and France in the 80s... outlets literally nailed into walls, exposed wiring, nails in place of fuse wire, amazing I survived!

Btw you're a bit of a wolfpack in this thread if you don't mind me saying... I'm just wondering who is alpha dog :)
