Possible cab build

I really like this idea. But can I just make it a regular 2x12 without that smaller speaker and the tweeter?

Also, could I see an actual picture of the guts of one? As opposed to just the blueprints? Does anyone have that?

EDIT: And I don't want to make this project too expensive, so are there any alternatives to the KappaLite 3012LFs? They're $180 a pop.

Speakerhardware.com has them for $150:

Yes, I would want to keep it simple, since it is my first build. And that link there is for a 1x12 cab. Are you saying I should build two of them?

No...I'm suggesting using those plans as the basis for a 2x12 cabinet. You'll have to do some math to figure out the side and back panels. Essentially, you'll have stacked 1x12's in the same box.

(That's what I did, except I used the 15" TL-606 plans and expanded the design to be a 2x15 box. It took some research, reading, and asking some questions here, but in the end, I'm very happy with the end result. You can click the link in my signature to read how my project went.)

Late to the party, but subscribed. Interested to see what you and Pop come up with, OP.

Last similar project with my dad was replacing the clutch in the old Nissan -- only it was winter (cold!), I was sick, and it wasn't much fun! Even so, there was a small, compensatory glow of accomplishment when we were done.
