Not true. The Coriolis effect can't act on a body of water that small. The direction water drains from any basin is determined by the shape of the basin and/or the small currents created when it was filled.

Actually, in the episode "Where No Man Has Gone Before" from TOS, Kirk's middle initial is given as "R." The name "Tiberius" is never mentioned in the series and doesn't show up in a live-action "episode" until Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.
I'm pretty sure they changed it because this would have made Kirk's initials "JRK," or "jerk." Not very befitting of a Starfleet Captain!
